Are you looking for summer party theme ideas? These are some of my favorites that are easy enough for anyone to host! Minimal supplies needed, and minimal cooking in most cases. Just a little creativity is all it takes to make the best memories with your friends and family!
This post is all about the best summer party themes.
1. Aw Shucks, summer’s almost over!
Oyster Shucking and Champagne is by far one of my favorite party themes. I have seen this done in different ways; engagement parties, birthdays etc.. But an end of summer party is the perfect time to have some fresh oysters and bubbly! It’s also a fun way to end the summer with a bang. I ordered these shucking sets and they worked perfectly! We get our oysters from Ghost Fleet Oyster Co., they are the best, and will ship to you!
2. Pajamas and Prosecco
This is the perfect girls brunch idea. Combining a fancy mimosa brunch with cozy pajamas makes this party nice and relaxing, but still elegant. On the menu: french toast bake, my favorite blueberry muffins, yogurt parfaits, croissants, fresh fruit, and some mimosas. Not too much decor needed, the food will speak for itself! Add a mimosa bar and this will be the perfect party!
3. Garden picnic party
This is a very fitting summer party theme! It has been trending lately, but there are so many ways to get creative with this one. Most gardens are in bloom, yards are looking bright, and everyone wants to be outside. It’s one of the prettiest summer parties to host. Here’s what you’ll need!
- A long card table or picnic tables (I like to make one long table)
- A simple white tablecloth
- These placemats
- Your favorite flowers in small vases/mason jars (blue hydrangeas are my favorite!)
- A few candles spread throughout
Make ahead a fun spritzer in a pitcher (or a homemade lemonade) to have on the table. Make some appetizers to pass, maybe do potluck style with your friends, or keep it simple and grill out. Enjoy dinner and drinks amongst the flowers and candlelight!
4. Seafood Boil
This is not a new idea, it’s one of the go-to classic southern gatherings. But it will always hold true as one of my favorites! So easy to feed a crowd, a “one pot meal” if you will, and always so delicious. You don’t need much as far as hosting goes, but if you want to spice it up beyond a red solo cup party, try adding in these small touches…
- Cute outdoor tumblers for drinks
- Classic buffalo check napkins (you will definitely need lots of napkins!)
- Warmed butter dishes
- Pre-made pitcher drink for guests to easily refill
- A bag of your own homemade cajun seasoning as a party favor
5. Whose wine is it anyway?
I went to one of these parties many years ago, and it was so much fun I still think about it! It can be done with any type of wine, but if you have a more intimate party, you want to keep it all the same color. Otherwise you can have a white group, red group, or rose group. We all brought an appetizer, but I would make a grazing table of dips and charcuterie for food throughout the tasting! Here are the rules…
- Every guest brings two bottles of the same wine in brown paper bags. Keeping them in the paper bags, one wine goes into a gift basket and the other gets set out for tasting.
- The host will number each bag with a number (ex. 1-10), and everyone gets a sheet with the numbers listed on there.
- Guests go around and taste the wine ranking their favorites from 1-10 (or however many bottles you have). We used these tasting cups.
- At the end, the host will tally up the rankings and the person who brought the winning bottle gets to take the gift basket full of wine home! We like to divide the wine for a first, second, and third place prize if you have a large crowd. Otherwise, you can choose to have one winner.
Such a fun way to drink wine with friends and make a game of it!
